One of the big pressing social and political issues that we have going on in our society today is the point that we have a war in Iraq going on.
Initially, the fact that we have a war going on affects our society because there is too much money being sent to our troops in Iraq and our economy is dropping little by little. Many Americans have lost their jobs. Schools in Washoe County are facing a deduction from 46 billion dollars for the next years. That means that yearly we are having a deduction of 88 million dollars in just teacher’s salaries. This will affect us because many students won’t be able to have the same school materials as we had and many teachers won’t have the same salaries.
9-11 is also a big part of gas prices going up so much. A way that the war has a part in gas prices going up dramatically is due to the fact that more and more money is being sent to Iraq. The United States stays with a low economy and prices on many products go up. The war has also affected our taxes. Now our parents can only receive tax money for their kids that reach certain requirements. They now require for the kids to be under the age of seventeen to receive money. The war in Iraq has affected us in many ways but we still continue to have that in our way of building a better society.
Also, the war in Iraq is due to the fact that the Iraqis bombed the twin towers in New York and ever since we’ve been in war with Iraq. The war has been going on for about 8 years and half now. In my point of view I think that the war is kind of point less now. I think its futile now because not only has it affected our society but it has also killed millions of people. Our world population might still seem the same but it has reduced in the past eight and a half years. Many kids die at birth because of all the toxics in the air. Our planet is in danger but we still continue to contaminate it by bombing and spreading toxic gases.
In conclusion, a big pressing social and political issues that we have going on in our society today is the point that we have a war in Iraq going on. The war has affected us by lowering our economy and contaminating our earth.
