Essay Contest Essay

Over the years that have passed, Americans, which includes me, have face so many challenges over time. There are many social issues that have arisen such as the recession that we are going into. Even though our government is spending a lot of money, it is still putting us deeper and deeper into a recession and I believe the only way to get out of it is for everyone to start creating more jobs for those who are unemployed. As our economy goes deeper into a recession, the more that people begin to suffer. This social issue affects us in many ways such as in inflation, less work, which includes unemployment and losses of jobs.
A recession is a period of reduced economic activity. As inflation begins to go up the cost of many needed items such as food products, cleaning products, and other household items will start to cost much more than they normally should. Like if a bar of soap where to cost $1, it could end up going up to a price such as $12. Even food will go up to an unfair price to were people wont be able afford to buy and put food on the table for there families or for themselves.
The loss of jobs will soon start to begin such as it is right now. With the loss of jobs many people cant earn money and if there not earning money then they don’t have any money to spend to buy things that they really need such as food and clothes or even a place to live. Since people aren’t spending money then the companies wont be earning money and soon leads to inflation because they can’t pay off the supplies that they buy from the other companies and if this begins then soon most of them begin to go bankrupt.
As Unemployment begins to go up many people cant get a job since the companies have no money to give for you working for them. So those who are unemployed begin to become homeless and if this happens our country can go into another depression such as it did when Hoover was president. When it happened people began to create towns, which were known as Hoover Ville. As the unemployment rate continues to grow, other organizations will also be affected such as welfare, which since everyone does not have a job and need money, the help of it will begin to go down since many are beginning to go look for help.
The loss of jobs, unemployment, less work, and inflation beginning with the recession of our economy, it’s a social issue here in our country. With no one to help us and the only way to get out depends on our selves to fix the mess in which we have created. Like a saying I once read in a book, “ Were one foot into a grave and the other foot on a banana peel, we have dug ourselves far to deep into the grave.” We have to find a way to get out of the so-called “grave” and begin to turn our economy around. The recession is what I believe is one of our biggest social issue.
